At P.S. ARTS, we are proud and excited to introduce a new slate of officers for the Board of Trustees, including Joshua Tanzer, who has assumed responsibility as the organization’s newest Board Chair.

“I look forward to adding to the building blocks put in place by Maria [Bell], Pam [Bergman], and Dave [Leyrer] as our most immediate past chairs,” said Mr. Tanzer.  “With the Board’s continued involvement, I hope to be able to bring new revenue sources to the organization and new strategies both for fundraising and the involvement of the L.A. art community. I want to encourage the generation of ideas for fresh ways to accomplish and execute our plans, and I hope we can also strengthen our relationships with our front line advocates, the Teaching Artists.  I am keeping all of this in mind to reach our goal of increasing P.S. ARTS’ presence in the many communities that are requesting our services.”

In addition to showing remarkable commitment to P.S. ARTS and its mission, Mr. Tanzer is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and has been Managing Director and Head of Private Growth Equity Capital Practice of Houlihan Lokey since May 2012.  Mr. Tanzer has also volunteered with Big Brothers of New York City and was a member of the United States Peace Corps; he also served on the Board of the University of Denver’s School of Accountancy and ODC Dance Company. We believe Mr. Tanzer brings a strong sense of financial acumen and business leadership to the Board of Trustees, as well as a deep commitment to his community.

Joining Mr. Tanzer as officers are: Maria Bell as President-at-Large, Pam Bergman as Immediate Past Chair, Laura Fox and Gennifer Yoshimaru as Vice Chairs, Chi-Chien Hou as Treasurer, Christine Weller as Secretary, and Roger Weaver as the Crossroads Representative.

At P.S. ARTS, we feel very fortunate to work with such a generous and committed Board of Trustees, and we look forward to sharing a fantastic year with this stellar slate of officers!

We would also like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Pam Bergman for her service as Board Chair over the last six years. During her tenure, Ms. Bergman demonstrated vision and exemplary governance practices and spearheaded many important changes at the Board level; some of these changes included revising the P.S. ARTS by-laws in alignment with best practices, creating a formal Board orientation protocol, and establishing a tiered board structure to accommodate the diverse expertise and resources of our Board members.  We wish Pam all the best in her new pursuits and send our sincere appreciation for her continued support and guidance.
