Thanks to the support and dedication of our members, P.S. ARTS has provided arts education to tens of thousands of children in Los Angeles County and the California’s Central Valley; now it’s our turn to give back. Starting this month, we are introducing the “Monthly P.S. ARTS Perks,” a benefit just for members. Each month, we will feature a local restaurant or shop offering special discounts or deals.  We are kicking off the program this month with a special deal from Ocean & Vine at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, followed by Greens Up! in February!  This January, if you are a member at the Fan of the Arts level ($50) or higher, you will get 50% off any bottle of wine at Ocean & Vine with the purchase of two entrees, lunch or dinner, Tuesday through Thursday.

But being a member of P.S. ARTS is about so much more than perks. In the face of economic uncertainty and competing priorities, California school budgets continue to shrink.  Your Friends of P.S. ARTS membership helps provide arts classes to children who would not otherwise have access to an arts education. And yet these experiences – writing your own play, discovering the musical traditions of other cultures, performing works by Maya Angelou, or creating three-dimensional sculptures inspired by the work of renowned architect Frank Gehry – are essential to a well-rounded education. Research has shown that a robust arts education is a critical factor in improving both students’ academic performance as well as their social and civic awareness. Support from our community has never been so important and we hope you will join us for a year of “perks” — we cannot do it without you!
