As we bid farewell to 2023, we would like to take a moment to look back and celebrate the milestones and achievements that P.S. ARTS has accomplished this past year. We are filled with gratitude for the support of our community, partners, and the countless individuals who support our mission!

  • New hires: P.S. ARTS expanded its staff and its capacity to expand its programs by hiring 5 new positions in 2023, including 4 new position in the Programs team, as well as a new Advancement Director.
  • Express Yourself expansion: P.S. ARTS expanded its signature fundraising event, Express Yourself, at the Fox Studio Lot, increasing its guest count from last year and raising more funds for its arts education programs.
  • New partnerships: P.S. ARTS partnered with the Jean-Michel Basquiat: King Pleasure exhibition in Downtown Los Angeles, with a new community engagement series at the Museum of Tolerance, and launched a new practicum program with Cal State University, Los Angeles in the year. Collaborative projects and events brought the community together, fostering a sense of unity and shared appreciation for the arts. Through these partnerships, we were able to amplify our impact and provide even more resources for creative exploration.
  • More student performances and Family Art Nights: P.S. ARTS took pride in showcasing the incredible talents and achievements of its students. Art exhibitions, virtual performances, and projects served as platforms for young artists to express themselves and gain recognition. These experiences not only built their confidence but also instilled in them a sense of pride in their artistic contributions.
  • Strategic Plan: P.S. ARTS launched its 3-Year Strategic Plan, a comprehensive roadmap that emphasis Programmatic Expansion to increase its service population by 50%, as well as significant advances in Educator Development, Advocacy and Policy, Board Development and Governance, and Operations, Fundraising, and Culture, with a dedicated focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging  initiatives.
  • Expanded Educator Development offerings: P.S. ARTS expanded its educator development programs with more workshops, online courses, and on-site trainings, including our Teaching Artist Seasonal Intensive (TASI), which will play a pivotal role in the solution to meet California’s pressing need for 15,000 new arts educators. As pioneers in this field, P.S. ARTS is shaping the future of arts education through innovative training approaches.

As we reflect on these milestones, P.S. ARTS eagerly looks ahead to the opportunities and challenges that 2024 may bring. With unwavering dedication and a commitment to innovation, we remain steadfast in our mission and dedication to spark the creative potential within our students. Through the arts, we aspire to shape a future where creativity, empathy, and self-expression are at the forefront of education. Thank you to all our faculty, partner schools, donors, and volunteers for making 2022 another incredible year for P.S. ARTS and arts education in public schools!
