March is Women’s History Month, an opportunity for us to celebrate the contributions women make to the world every single day. Here are some events in Southern California coming up this month that you can enjoy with your friends and family to learn about and celebrate women’s historic contributions to the arts!

  • See a classical concert: Kadima String Quartet Celebrates Women’s History Month by playing works composed by women. Saturday, March 4 at 3:30 PM at Northridge Branch Library. Get your tickets here.
  • Go to a gallery: Mash Gallery presents the “In Her Element” exhibition highlighting distinct perspectives of women and various expressions of femininity. Saturday, March 4 from 6-9 PM, RSVP here
  • Paint like Alma Woodsey Thomas: The LA County Library hosts a painting workshop based on the work of iconic Alma Woodsey Thomas at their Quartz Hill Library location. Tuesday, March 7 from 4-5 PM. Register here
  • Still Life paint like Frida Kahlo: The LA County Library hosts a still life painting workshop inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo at their South Whittier Library location. Wednesday, March 8 from 4-5 PM. Register here.
  • Make a zine: The California African American Museum (CAAM) hosts a free all ages Women’s History Month Zine Workshop. Thursday, March 18 from 2-3 pm. Sign up here
