Meet P.S. ARTS’ new Director of Advancement, Jennifer! Find out what Jennifer is reading and learn about her interests in the interview below.

I’m Jennifer Childress (she/her) and I am the founder and principal strategist at JLC Social Impact Consulting where I help philanthropists, non-profits, and brands develop clear, sustainable, values-based strategies to make a positive impact in their corporate culture, their communities, and their world.

Before transitioning into consulting, I served as the Los Angeles Area Director of Development at the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), where I led strategy, communications, development, and programming for UNCF Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii. I am a member of the board of directors for Diversity in Leadership Institute, a member of the ReadLA! Coalition, and a soprano in the Angel City Chorale, where I was the founding chairwoman of the diversity committee.

What book is currently on your nightstand?
“Children of Blood and Bone” by Tomi Adeyemi. I’m re-reading it to prepare for the film coming out!

What song do you have on repeat right now?
I have a little one, so our favorite jam is currently the English/Spanish version of the Sesame Street song, “The People in Your Neighborhood.”

What is your favorite place to view or take part in art in Los Angeles?
LA is such a creative place—we are so lucky. I am new to the Pasadena area, so right now I am enjoying exploring The Huntington.

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work?
I am a soprano with Angel City Chorale, so I love singing and music in general. We are so fortunate to perform in incredible places and meet wonderful people.
