About the activity:

Piet Mondrian was an artist born on March 7, 1872 in Amersvoort, Netherlands. Mondrian was the founder of Neo-Plasticism. This style of art emphasizes harmony, order, and simplicity. Neo-Plasticism only uses horizontal and vertical lines, primary colors (red, yellow and blue), and black and white. With simple materials at home, you can create a birdhouse that looks just like Piet Mondrian’s artwork! If you don’t have a birdhouse handy, just use a piece of blank white paper!

Materials needed:

  • Wooden Birdhouse (Available at Most Craft Stores)
  • Blank Sheet of Paper
  • Black Marker
  • Acrylic Paints (Red, Yellow, Blue)
  • Paint Brushes
  • Ruler
