P.S. ARTS To Go! Hans Arp Chance Collage with Mrs. O'Toole

About the activity:

Hans Peter Wilhelm Arp, also known as Jean Arp, was born in 1886 in France. He was a French-German artist, sculptor, and poet known for his abstract art and for being a founding member of the Dada art movement. He helped coin the term “chance collage” in which artists would drop scraps of paper onto a blank sheet and where the scraps fell on their own is where they would stay as a part of the artwork. Today we will let the materials decide where they want to go when we make out own chance collage!

Materials needed:

  • Colored paper scraps
  • Magazine scraps
  • Sheet of colored paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors (optional)
