Briefly introduce yourself and explain your position at P.S. ARTS.

Hello everyone, I am Edlin Velasquez the new Program Coordinator for the Lynwood Unified School District in the Classroom Studio Program. I am very grateful to be here and take on my administrative and logistical responsibilities to support our wonderful Teaching Artists. I am excited to wear my new cap and jump in with our Programs Team to continue growing our mission of advancing arts access to youth across California!

What book is currently on your nightstand?

“The Intelligent Investor” by Benjamin Graham. I enjoy learning about personal finance, our banking system, taxes, funds, markets, and more.

What is currently the most played song you’ve been listening to?

Tom Misch – It Runs Through Me (feat. De La Soul)

Where is your favorite place to view or take part in art in Los Angeles?

Truly any place in L.A.! I also love going to parks, this is where I find moments of peace, joy, creativity, and strength. I find it beautiful how people gather at parks. It feels like a simple way to experience the art of humanity.

What famous person, either dead or alive, would you choose to take out for coffee?

I would love to meet the brilliance of Tracee Ellis Ross and Dr. Maya Angelou. Tracee is so charismatic and talented; I imagine moments of endless laughter and Dr. Maya Angelou has a grounding energy as she shares her life story and golden nuggets of wisdom. Both are inspiring, strong women who remind us to stand in our light and to be kind to ourselves and the world around us.

Thank you Edlin and welcome to the team! To learn more about our Staff, Board, and Faculty click here.
