About the activity:

Favianna Rodriguez is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural organizer, and political activist based in Oakland, California. She is known for her bold and vibrant posters which address a wide range of social issues. Favianna lectures globally on the power of art, cultural organizing and technology to inspire social change and leads art workshops at schools around the country. Our painting today is inspired by Rodriguez’ artistic interpretation of the Monarch butterfly which has come to represent the beauty of migration and the right that humans have to move freely.
