Meet P.S. ARTS’ new Getty Marrow Undergraduate Intern, Ellya! Find out what Ellya is reading and learn about her interests in the interview below.
Hi, I’m Ellya Kim (she/her), and I am the Getty Marrow Community Arts Education Intern. I’m going to be a senior at UC Berkeley studying sociology, and I’m really excited to be at P.S. ARTS this summer! While I’m here, I will be designing a few To-Go lessons, making an updated Museum Resource Guide for the upcoming year, and helping work on a Family Art Night (FAN) project!
What book is currently on your nightstand?
I just started Maria van Lieshout’s “Song of a Blackbird.” It’s a historical fiction graphic novel! I actually had the opportunity to go to her book launch and signing in January, so I’m very excited to finally get to read it after so long!
What song do you have on repeat right now?
I’ve been loving “SHIFT” by the K-pop group, SHINee! I listen to it at least once a day at this point—it feels so fresh and summery.
What is your favorite place to view or take part in art in Los Angeles?
I have a lot of fond memories of my mom taking me to art museums all over LA when I was younger, and I feel like my answer changes all the time, but for now, I’ll say the Getty! I love the garden and I always appreciate the mix of classical and contemporary art on display. I honestly could not even begin to describe the feeling I get stepping off the trams and seeing the steps and the museum.
