Briefly introduce yourself and explain your position at P.S. ARTS.

Hi! I’m Ellie, and I’m P.S. ARTS’ Getty Marrow Education Intern. I was born in L.A. and raised traveling between here and Tijuana, Mexico. I’m currently a rising sophomore at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, where I am double-majoring in Religion and German. Although I am not studying art at school, I have been creating art since elementary school and I hope to help facilitate the same experience for kids with P.S. ARTS! At P.S. ARTS, I will be creating To Go! videos inspired by contemporary artists, as well as putting together a resource guide to help students and their families navigate local museums and, last but not least, I’ll develop a fun project for Family Art Night!

What book is currently on your nightstand?

Currently, I’m reading Judaisms: A Twenty-First-Century Introduction to Jews and Jewish Identities by Aaron J. Hahn Tapper. It’s a fascinating book to use as an ‘Intro to Judaism’ because it provides such a diverse look at the many different traditions that develop in diaspora. Each chapter covers a different theme and examines it using multiple views, often from underrepresented perspectives. It’s a really good book, and I highly recommend it.

What is currently the most played song you’ve been listening to?

The most played song I’ve been listening to is ‘Sunlight’ by Hozier. I adore mythological allusions in any media (which is the reason why most of my artwork revolves around mythology and folklore) and every single one of Hozier’s songs is just pure magic.

Where is your favorite place to view or take part in art in Los Angeles?

My favorite place to see art has to be the Getty Villa. I’m a huge history nerd and I take a lot of inspiration from historical methods and pieces. I don’t get the chance to go very often, but I have so much fun whenever I can visit.

What famous person, either dead or alive, would you choose to take out for coffee?

I think I would like to take Queen Esther, from the Bible, out for tea (I’m a tea person). I love her story and that she’s a strong woman. I would love to hear about her perspective of the Book of Esther since I’m incredibly interested in ancient Persia. Who better to learn about the Achaemenid Empire than its queen? She’s an icon and I’d love to chat with her about anything and everything.

Thanks Ellie! We’re so excited to have you joining us this summer.
