Lawndale Elementary School District
P.S. ARTS moved into the heart of the South Bay in 2000. In the 2004/2005 school year, the Herb Alpert Foundation made a generous $1.5M donation to fund a five-year initiative that allowed P.S. ARTS to expand programming and provide all 3,900 students in the district’s seven elementary schools with arts instruction. In year five, The Herb Alpert Foundation extended their commitment with a promise to fund the project through its sixth year. LESD’s administration and faculty appreciation and commitment to the P.S. ARTS program is clearly evident as the district makes a financial contribution to the program each year. This year, LESD’s school participation fee is close to $125,000, making LESD one of P.S. ARTS’ top five funders.

Reef-Sunset Unified School District
P.S. ARTS expanded into California’s Central Valley in 2003 with the generous support of Stewart and Lynda Resnick through their company, Paramount Farms. Many of the 1,700 students in the western part of Kings County are immigrants whose parents work in the agricultural fields that surround the area. As 74% of the schools’ population is English Language learners, arts classes provide an opportunity for students to express themselves without language barriers, while developing crucial language skills.

Lennox School District
P.S. ARTS currently provides a traditional Orff-Schulwerk based music program for the Lennox School District after school program. The after school program is free to the students in Lennox, and all Lennox students are welcome to attend. P.S. ARTS is also participating on the Arts for All arts education planning committee in the Lennox school district. Unlike the majority of schools in which we provide arts education during the school day, P.S. ARTS entered the school district as part of the after school program in accordance with the district-wide planning process. P.S. ARTS anticipates expanding arts program into the school day as a part of the regular curriculum.
